Privacy Policy

Your Library is personal. This policy explains which data stays in your browser and which services support purchases and restoration.

1. About Hookstamp

Hookstamp is a Chrome extension for saving references to favorite sections of YouTube videos and organizing them into Tracks and Playlists. Seller information is listed in our Legal Notice. For privacy questions, email support@hookstamp.com.

2. Local extension data

Hookstamp stores your Library, Playlists, saved video metadata, preferences, and purchase-entitlement cache in browser-local extension storage. Your last valid Import Timestamps input is saved locally as an example for future input, not sent to our payment backend. Temporary playback and draft state may use tab session storage.

Library export creates a backup file you control. Library backups do not include purchase tokens or extension preferences. Removing browser or extension data can remove local information; export a backup if you want to keep it.

3. YouTube references and playback

Saved data can include video identifiers, titles, channel names, timestamps, and metadata needed to find a video section. Hookstamp does not download, re-host, redistribute, or re-encode YouTube video or audio content.

Playback uses YouTube’s original video. Loading video pages and thumbnail images sends normal requests to YouTube/Google, including the referenced video or image and connection information such as your IP address. YouTube/Google’s own policies apply to their services.

4. Purchases and entitlement

For Hookstamp Full, the extension communicates with our backend and uses Stripe Checkout. Data involved can include installation identifiers, activation tokens and their server-side hashes, checkout/session identifiers, Stripe customer and payment identifiers, purchase email, purchase status, and verification timestamps.

These records let us recognize Full access, restore legitimate purchases, and handle refunds, disputes, and abuse. Payment-card details are entered into Stripe Checkout; Hookstamp’s extension and entitlement backend do not collect card numbers.

5. Restore Purchase

Restore Purchase uses the email address associated with your purchase. Our backend sends a verification code through Resend. The backend processes the submitted code and keeps verification records, including code hashes and attempt information, to validate requests and limit abuse.

6. Services involved

  • Stripe: payment processing and purchase/refund/dispute information.
  • Cloudflare: website and backend hosting, database, and infrastructure for entitlement and purchase restoration. Hosting services may process request information for operation and security.
  • Resend: the recipient address and email content needed to deliver Restore Purchase verification emails.
  • YouTube / Google: original video playback, source pages, and thumbnail requests.

If you contact support, we use the information you send to respond to your request. This static website adds no analytics, advertising trackers, or tracking cookies. Ordinary hosting requests may still be processed by the hosting provider.

7. No sale of personal information

Hookstamp does not sell personal information. Data is used to provide the product, support purchases and restoration, respond to support requests, and protect the service.

8. Retention

Local data remains until you remove it or the relevant browser data is cleared. Purchase and entitlement records may be retained as needed to provide purchase restoration, prevent fraud or abuse, meet applicable obligations, and handle refunds or disputes. We do not promise a fixed retention period for these records.

9. Security

Hookstamp uses established service providers and access controls to help protect information. No system or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

10. Your questions and rights

You can manage local Library data in the extension. For questions or requests concerning purchase, support, or other personal data, contact us through Support. We handle requests in accordance with applicable law and may need to verify your identity.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product or its data handling changes. The revised policy and effective date will be posted here.
